We realize that in the current financial climate it can be very difficult to find both the time and resources necessary to access training in longed-for skills. Therefore we have decided to provide scholarships to Oregon and SW Washington educators currently teaching at the K-12 levels to attend any of the annual Teach For Life! Educator's Institutes or Workshops (see below). We will give $125.00 each to the first four educators from Oregon and SW Washington that complete the Educator's Institute and apply for our scholarships. To apply, send a letter containing a copy of your completion certificate to: ORNCC Treasurer, c/o of the ORNCC mailing address.
We are pleased to be using our resources to support Oregon and SW Washington communities and are looking forward to expanding this program through fundraising and targeting donations. Anyone inspired to support expansion of this program please send donations to the ORNCC mailing address and write on your donation checks, "ORNCC Teach For Life! Educational Scholarships."
What is Teach for Life!
Teach for Life! is a 5-day residential training for school teachers, administrators, counselors, and homeschool parents where we co-create a supportive, dynamic learning community based in the consciousness and practices of Nonviolent Communication. The nonresidential 5-day workshop for educators includes the same curriculum. Throughout the five days participants strengthen their ability to:
- Live from a consciousness of compassion with yourself and others
- Practice Nonviolent Communication with students and colleagues
- Shift from managing students’ behavior to nurturing respectful, caring relationships in the classroom
- Implement a “No-fault Classroom” curriculum
- Inspire engaged learning
- Demonstrate leadership in your school community
- Resolve conflict peacefully and teach your students to do the same
Comments About the 2010 Teach for Life! Training

Teach4life is one of the best NVC workshops I have ever attended and I have attended over 200 hours of workshops with NVC trainers, including Marshall Rosenberg.
It is facilitated by long-time NVC trainers, Sura Hart and Jean Morrison, who have a wealth of experience, not only with NVC but also in the education field, as teachers, as well as working with administrators to support school-wide approaches to the integration of NVC into the classroom. They create a learning environment that supports community, creativity, respect, safety, and a connection with life!
The five-days are filled with experiential learning opportunities both personal and professional. The facilitators model activities and learning exercises that can be adapted no matter what age level is being taught. There is ample opportunity to experiment with them and explore them to gain personal insights as well as how they might apply to an educator's specific teaching environment.
This five-day workshop is an opportunity for educators new to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to start their own journey of self-discovery with the NVC model as well as glean ideas about how to incorporate it into their teaching. For those educators that are already using NVC in their classroom, this five-day workshop will rouse your creative teaching juices and bring new vitality to your integration of NVC in the classroom.
Participants walk away with a renewed sense of purpose, both for their teaching and NVC, new friendships and an expanded network of fellow NVC practitioners and educators from which to draw strength and support.
