Why Good People Do Bad Things: Understanding Our Darker Selves
Are you an adult who finds that your Mom still pushes your buttons?
Do you react to your spouse, kids, or boss when they say something that "sounds just like my mother"?
Do you still long for nurturing, acceptance and compassion from the one who gave you birth?
This day-long intensive will draw upon the concepts and basic steps of Nonviolent Communication along with the Mourning, Healing and Reconciliation (MHR) process to help you get free of your suffering from painful experiences, past or present, with your mother.
You will also be guided through a self-healing experience using the Wounded Child archetype (Caroline Myss, Sacred Contracts) to help you observe (hear) the inner dialogue that keeps you stuck and in pain. As you listen to this conversation, you will identify the feelings that arise and the needs/wants/values behind them. Then you will explore ways to value (appreciate), nurture, and protect that part of yourself.
In addition, you will use mindfulness meditation exercises to help increase your awareness of how you learned to talk to yourself.
Peace starts within—when you pay attention to how you talk to yourself and decide to change your inner language to that of love and compassion—peace begins.
