Practice Groups
Practice groups provide opportunities for learning, growth, and connection to the principles of Nonviolent Communication, within a supportive community. The consistent structure can help you apply and integrate NVC awareness in your daily life.
Local practice groups are self forming, and lead by students of NVC, with different levels of experience. Group format and structure can vary widely depending on the needs and learning levels of group participants. We encourage you to find the group that meets your specific learning needs or help to create one yourself.

NVC in Daily Life
Facilitator: Aria Jackson & Dale Howe
Description: Our vision is for all members of the group to act as “gatekeepers” of each session, rather than having a designated facilitator. We would like each person to bring situations or parts of NVC that they wish to work on.
For the most part we would like to stay focused on learning and practicing this four-step process rather than giving empathy or telling stories. We will set aside time for listening and giving empathy.
Prerequisites: Portland-area residents with beginning- to intermediate-level NVC skills who have completed at least a 12-week introductory NVC course or the equivalent in NVC training, workshops, and practice.
Our intention:
To create a space for concretely practicing the four NVC steps so that we can become more fluent in using them and develop a vocabulary that fits a variety of situations in our daily lives.
Meeting Day/Time: Tuesdays, 7:00 PM–8:30 AM
Location: 5214 SE Taylor St., Portland, OR
Group Duration: Begins August 12, 2008, Ending undetermined
